By applying here, you are joining our proactive talent pool for future hiring waves.
Why You'll Love This Role:
As part of a regional sales team and the face of Newsela in the market, the Strategic Account Executive builds relationships with key decision makers at the district level and sells Newsela's suite of products to bring engaging learning content to school districts in the region. This role offers the opportunity to meet in-person with school and district leaders, presenting solutions, negotiating terms, and securing agreements that bring Newsela into classrooms.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Employ solution-based selling techniques and solution mapping, along with strong negotiation and closing skills, to ensure school board preparation and approval.
  • Create and maintain an aggressive pipeline, and build and adjust strategic account plans for key accounts to move each through the sales cycle.
  • Handle day-to-day responsibilities spanning everything from pipeline creation, pipeline management, and forecasting to designing lead generation campaigns and managing sales through the entire lifecycle while collaborating closely with other departments.
  • Have direct, regular exposure to our executive leadership team during meetings to discuss specific deal strategies, introduce industry trends, and build support for district-specific initiatives.
  • Work with a highly skilled team dedicated to supporting you and your book of business, alongside extensive support from our Learning & Enablement team.
  • Achieve revenue targets while collaborating with an enthusiastic, cross-functional team to catapult Newsela's growth as we scale our national sales organization.
  • Thrive in a role that requires significant autonomy, representing the company in the market, making recommendations that impact strategy and results, and managing priorities independently.
  • Stay well-versed in the territory's funding, state initiatives, demographics, and K-12 education landscape to help inform the overall sales strategy.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including evaluating customer needs, structuring tailored solutions, negotiating within established guidelines, and influencing revenue and business outcomes.

About You:
  • Proven Account Executive with 2+ years of demonstrated success selling supplemental products to school districts in the K12 market required.
  • Willing to build your own book of business and have extensive experience in networking, prospecting, and building a pipeline.
  • Well-versed in MEDDPICC sales methodology.
  • Proven success forecasting business in the EdTech industry.
  • Excited about the opportunity to connect face-to-face as this position involves regular travel to meet with customers and prospects.
  • Experiencing using AI tools to drive greater efficiency and productivity.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

This role is classified as an exempt salaried role and is not eligible for overtime.
All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check as part of our pre-employment process.
