Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Azure Cloud Engineer (Lead/Architect level) with deep, hands-on expertise in Azure infrastructure and a proven track record of leading large-scale cloud transformation initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to lead, mentor, and scale teams of 100+ engineers, while remaining technically hands-on in Azure design, implementation, and automation.
You will serve as a subject matter expert on all things Azure - driving enterprise cloud adoption, ensuring operational excellence, and embedding best practices in security, performance, and scalability. This role combines technical excellence with people leadership, transformation strategy, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end Azure infrastructure design, implementation, and support across enterprise environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a global team of cloud engineers and architects (100+ team size).
  • Define and enforce Azure architecture standards, security guidelines, governance frameworks, and operational best practices.
  • Drive the design and deployment of Azure resources, including networking, compute, identity, storage, databases, and monitoring.
  • Spearhead cloud migration strategies, hybrid cloud integration, and modernization of legacy systems.
  • Lead Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) initiatives using tools like Bicep, Terraform, and ARM templates.
  • Implement and optimize DevOps pipelines, CI/CD processes, and automated infrastructure provisioning.
  • Own and drive incident management, capacity planning, and performance optimization across Azure workloads.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Security, DevOps, Networking, Application Engineering) to align architecture and delivery.
  • Report to senior leadership and stakeholders with clear status updates, metrics, risks, and progress.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT with at least 6+ years in Azure cloud engineering or architecture roles.
  • Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams (50-100+ people), preferably in enterprise or consulting environments.
  • Deep technical expertise in:
    • Azure Compute (VMs, AKS, App Services)
    • Azure Networking (VNETs, NSGs, Load Balancers, ExpressRoute, VPNs)
    • Azure Storage & Databases (Blob, Files, SQL, CosmosDB)
    • Azure Active Directory, RBAC, Policies, and Security Center
    • Monitoring and logging (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights)
  • Strong experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep, ARM), CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), and scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, compliance (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2), cost governance, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to lead distributed teams and complex initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise or multi-cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and Azure-native PaaS solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in cloud adoption, optimization, and governance at scale.
  • Proven ability to mentor and grow engineering teams, set goals, and foster a high-performance culture.
