Job Summary

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an immediate opening to join our team as a construction consultant in the Dallas Metro. This full-time position is anticipated to be remote, with regular travel to project sites and client locations.

The construction consultant is accountable for the successful delivery of technology consulting projects during the contract administration phase. This role verifies that infrastructure, audiovisual systems, and structured cabling installations align with contract documents, design intent, and industry standards. Serving as a link between design and field execution, the construction consultant leads site observation, validation, and commissioning activities; coordinates with AV integrators and contractors; and supports RFI and submittal workflows to resolve issues early and reduce delivery risk. Through disciplined oversight, clear communication, and a hospitalityforward approach, the role ensures systems are technically sound, operationally ready, and aligned with client expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination and Communication

  • AV Integrator Management: Coordinate with AV integrators and contractors to facilitate installation, testing, and handover of technology systems. Manage punch lists and track issue resolution.  Assist with AV integrator coordination meetings and notes.
  • RFI and Submittal Management: Assist in receiving, reviewing, and responding to RFIs (Requests for Information) related to contract administration and project submittals. Request team member assistance as needed, ensure final response accuracy, return responses promptly, and maintain the RFI and Submittal logs for tracking and accountability.
  • Contract Administration Coordination: Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and project stakeholders to resolve field issues and maintain alignment between construction and installation activities and technology goals.
  • Client & Team Communication: Communicate project status, field issues, and solutions to internal teams and clients. Provide technical guidance and support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and submit timely site observation and commissioning reports. Maintain accurate records of field conditions, test results, and system performance.

Validation and Verification

  • Site Observation & Compliance: Conduct regular site visits to verify infrastructure, AV, and structured cabling installations comply with construction documents and specifications. Document findings, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Structured Cabling Observation: Observe and document structured cabling installations, ensuring alignment with design intent and industry standards.
  • Audiovisual Verification: Develop and execute AV test plans and manage validation testing of audiovisual (AV) systems at both offsite and onsite facilities on behalf of our clients. Carry out comprehensive testing and troubleshooting to confirm system performance and functionality. Verify that installation and operation of technology systems adhere to construction documents and project specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Review installation practices and completed work for adherence to standards. Support QA of AV and structured cabling installations.
  • Operational readiness support: Support system turnover and initial adoption by assisting with client training sessions, operational handoff activities, and earlystage issue identification, ensuring technology systems are understood, usable, and ready for dayone operation.

Internal Responsibilities

  • Team contribution: Contribute to Waveguide's internal knowledge base and consulting community by sharing lessons learned, best practices, and technical insights from constructionphase engagements.
  • Process ownership and improvement: Take ownership of constructionphase consulting workflows, proactively identifying opportunities to improve observation practices, testing rigor, documentation quality, and coordination efficiency. Challenge assumptions and recommend improvements that increase consistency, reduce rework, and strengthen delivery outcomes.
  • Professional Growth: Pursue ongoing professional development and contribute to the organization's knowledge base as a subject matter expert (SME).
  • Travel: This position requires frequent local and domestic and occasionally international travel, sometimes up to 50%, to perform site observations, attend coordination meetings, and support project delivery.
