Job description

A Bluum Systems Engineer II represents an individual who has 2-5 years of AV design experience. Core responsibilities include creating AV designs, quotes, and labor estimates, based on information provided by Account Executives. This will require in person as well as remote meetings, to gather information.
The baseline knowledge expected for this position is to have a good understanding of AV signal flows for complex systems and an in depth understanding of common audio-visual concepts including.

Essential Functions and Job Duties
  • System Engineering (50%)
    • Create detailed system designs to include audio, video, control systems, etc. for medium-high complexity systems
    • Utilize D-tools software to create signal flow line drawings, rack layouts, equipment lists, etc. during the design phase of the project.
    • Prepare custom proposals, labor estimates, material needs, and Scope of Work.
    • Complete formal bids including: attending bid planning meetings to identify customer needs, budget requirements, design, and bid submittal.
    • Travel to client sites as needed to gather additional information.
    • Responsible for the overall detailed system design from conception through installation completion
  • Technical Support (25%)
    • Provide technical assistance to the Project Managers, Installers, Technicians, Programmers, and Sales Representatives as needed on projects. On-site service assistance for complex issues as needed
    • Answer questions and educate customers and staff on audio/visual systems.
  • Sales Consultation (15%)
    • Attend customer consult meetings with Account Executives in-house or onsite as necessary.
    • Advise customers of design ideas, receive feedback on customer needs, and gather information for design phase of process.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
    • This could include training Systems Engineer I, assisting teams outside assigned projects, and attaining higher level training certifications

Experience, Education, Skills, and Competencies
  • 2-5 years in an AV design related role
  • In depth knowledge of AV signal flow and common manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, and QSC
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Desire to grow and further education
  • Ability to organize and work through heavy workloads
  • D-Tools experience

Industry/Manufacturer Certifications
  • CTS-D (AVIXA) Preferred
  • QSC Level 2
  • Dante Level 2
  • Biamp Tesiraforte/Server

Typical Projects
  • Medium to high complexity for single rooms systems such as high-end boardrooms, corporate offices, higher education classrooms.
  • Formal bid projects
