Location

This role is on-site in Salt Lake City, UT, offering a collaborative in-office environment with direct access to attorneys and staff. Additional openings are available in New York City, San Francisco, and Irvine, CA.

Note

Candidates must have 5 or more years of hands-on patent prosecution paralegal experience, including U.S. and international filings. This is not an entry-level role.

Job Description

  • Prepare and file U.S. patent applications, PCT applications, and related USPTO correspondence
  • Coordinate with foreign associates on PCT, national stage filings, annuities, and maintenance fees
  • Prepare and file formal documents, issue fee payments, and post-allowance filings
  • Monitor and manage foreign and domestic patent deadlines and attorney dockets
  • Draft office action response shells and application documents for attorney review
  • Review and revise claims at attorney direction
  • Communicate with clients and foreign associates regarding filings, deadlines, and procedural updates
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical client files
  • Conduct post-allowance due diligence to ensure accuracy of issued patents
  • Support attorneys with reporting, research, and matter management
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of patent prosecution paralegal experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international patent prosecution rules and procedures
  • Proficiency with USPTO systems and patent docketing
  • Ability to manage a high-volume docket with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Professional handling of confidential information
