Job Description:


Our highly reputable law firm client is seeking a Paralegal to support its Real Estate Practice Group. Our client’s real estate group represents clients ranging from mid-sized companies to large national and global companies in the acquisition, disposition and financing of commercial, industrial, multi-family, manufactured housing and retail properties. The group has robust commercial leasing, joint venture and development practices. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with acquisitions, dispositions and financing in all practice areas. As well as excellent communication and technical skills and thrive in a team environment, while still possessing independence, initiative and drive.



About the practice: Real Estate group has team of 5 RE Paralegals, with an average tenure of 9+ years, handling all types of real estate matters across the country, including acquisitions and dispositions, joint venture transactions, real estate development, manufactured housing, commercial leasing — including significant experience with retail leasing — real estate tax structuring, and debt and equity financing. Our sophisticated, national practice is ranked by Chambers and Partners and has twice been named “Best of the Best — Top Law Firms in the Midwest” by Midwest Real Estate News.



Experience that makes you a fit:

  • Reviewing contracts/purchase & sale agreements
  • Preparing closing checklists, calculating critical dates and maintaining both as the transaction progresses
  • Reviewing title, survey and zoning; preparing objection notices and response letters; experience with clearing title matters and knowledge of ALTA survey standards
  • Research and facilitating local requirements and tax clearance/bulk sales
  • Preparation of estoppels and SNDAs
  • Preparing and reviewing closing documents
  • Due diligence process including ordering, reviewing and summarizing searches
  • Reviewing leases and abstracts
  • Preparing and filing UCC Financing Statements
  • Preparing and reviewing closing documents
  • Preparing and facilitating all aspects of closings with client, title companies and lenders
  • Overseeing preparation of electronic closing binders
  • Effectively utilizing the firm’s docketing system to track matters
  • Communicating with clients and third parties throughout the course of a matter



Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant real estate transactional and finance experience (will consider less experience for otherwise qualified candidate)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong technical skills (Knowledge of Microsoft Office, iManage and Adobe is a plus)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to adjust to changing project priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to delegate appropriate tasks
  • A demonstrated commitment to providing superior client service
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime as needed
