Job description

Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., Florida's largest full-service civil litigation firm, continues to grow and is currently seeking an experienced Construction Litigation Paralegal for its Tampa office.
Qualified candidates must be a Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) or Certified Paralegal (CP), or hold a paralegal degree or certificate from an ABA-approved program. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant paralegal experience, with a strong background in insurance defense litigation and Florida construction disputes. Ideal applicants will be knowledgeable in all phases of Florida Construction defect claims, torts, contractual issues, and other construction-related matters. Trial experience is a plus.
Prior billing experience is preferred; all candidates must bill their time contemporaneously in accordance with firm and client billing guidelines.
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting attorneys in case management from inception through trial
  • Organizing, analyzing, and reviewing court documents and case materials
  • Coordinating discovery and preparing related responses and documentation
  • Conducting legal research as needed
  • Preparing subpoenas, exhibits, trial binders, and other pre-trial materials
  • Accurately and timely entering billable time on a daily basis

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation paralegal experience and strong familiarity with Florida construction disputes
  • Insurance defense background preferred
  • Prior billing experience with contemporaneous time entry required
  • Must be a Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) or Certified Paralegal (CP)
  • Strong understanding of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and e-filing procedures
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
