What this job involves:

As a Regional Engineering Manager at JLL, you'll lead engineering and maintenance operations across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring operational excellence and strategic alignment with client objectives. This role requires a dynamic leader who can oversee multiple sites, manage cross-functional teams, and drive performance improvements while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and asset integrity. You'll serve as the technical authority and strategic partner for clients, translating their business needs into actionable engineering solutions. You'll balance hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking, managing budgets, vendor relationships, and capital planning initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead and support engineering teams developing high performance teams
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the property management field organizations and the territory team leaders. Lead and coach Regional Managers, General Managers, Chief Engineers, and other engineering leaders in their management oversight of engineering/maintenance team resources and productivity. This support will include supporting hiring, training, employee development, and conducting and/or monitoring performance and evaluation process of the engineering/maintenance teams
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to the region supporting operational improvements in reliability, service delivery, and solutions to property issues as requested
  • Identify and implement preventative maintenance and energy reduction strategies to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations within the geographical region
  • Support new business opportunities and acquisitions through all stages, including proposals, client presentations, building conditions assessments, capital planning, transitions and staffing
  • Ensure strategic management and full optimization of building systems within property budget guidelines to maximize use of the available technology and programs to efficiently operate the buildings
  • Ensure portfolio-wide awareness and compliance with all safety code and policy issues. Where necessary, institute safety awareness training program efforts

Required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of related experience, especially as a Senior Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager
  • Outstanding knowledge of a wide variety of utility management, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems in commercial properties
  • 5+ years of experience managing an engineering/maintenance team, including hiring, training and coaching employees
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable OSHA, NFPA, and EPA regulations and ability to incorporate such knowledge into operational and capital investment planning
  • Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
  • Universal CFC EPA certification
  • Operating Engineer license or similar (as applicable by state regulations)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience managing engineering operations in Class A office buildings, healthcare facilities, or other complex commercial properties
  • Background in critical environments such as data centers, laboratories, or mission-critical facilities
  • Expertise in building automation systems, energy management platforms, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Knowledge of LEED, Energy Star, and other sustainability frameworks and certifications
  • Experience with union labor environments and collective bargaining agreements
