Job description

TITLE: Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

REQUIRMENTS:

  • 2 years ammonia refrigeration experience in an industrial refrigeration environment and food manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to pass respirator fit test and Pulmonary function test as well as 24-hour hazmat class.
  • Must have Ammonia Certification from GCAP or RETA
  • Must have EPA Type II certification

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Refrigeration Techs must have extensive knowledge operating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing ammonia refrigeration systems, boiler, hot water, domestic cold water, and compressed air systems. Basic knowledge of General Maintenance and Electrical and Electronic Systems are also required. The associate must be able to work in a team environment and individually with little or no supervision. Must comply with all Company SAFETY Policy's (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, ETC), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and all Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations.

  • Operation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of the ammonia refrigeration system, its sub-systems, and all auxiliary processes and/or equipment related to the operation of the refrigeration system.
  • Perform planned maintenance on all ammonia refrigeration and utility systems.
  • Experience with operating and maintaining spiral freezers.
  • Maintains the material integrity of the Refrigeration and utility rooms in accordance with established best practices.
  • Must be able to perform or capable of learning ammonia system pump downs for repairing / replacing ammonia refrigeration parts etc.
  • Complete all applicable documentation as required and directed by Dept. manager including but not limited to: PSM-related modifications or changes, Work Orders (WO's), refrigeration system and operation notes.
  • Automate and digitize all necessary maintenance, refrigeration, and ammonia records.
  • Adheres to all Company policies including but not limited to safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Daily rounds and inspections of Temperatures and Condition of Ammonia System.
  • Perform chemical test on boilers as well as Condenser towers.
  • Any other duties assigned by Maintenance / Refrigeration Manager
