Job Description
The Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for supervising all front desk operations, staff and scheduling, and managing the hotel's inventory. This position usually works a regularly scheduled front desk shift and must be available to work any shift as needed. This position requires strong communication skills and demonstrated leadership abilities.
Position Responsibilities
• Directly supervise all front office staff and ensures proper completion of all front office duties and provides excellent service to guests
• Direct and coordinate the activities of the front desk, reservations, guest services, and telephone areas
• Ensure the proper appearance of the front desk, reservations, guest services and all public areas, including the complementary coffee area
• Assist with various accounting/financial functions including AP, city ledger billing, guaranteed no-show billing, direct bill accounts, 100% files, end-of-month reports and other department reports
• Aggressively pursue the hotel's revenue goals and effectively utilize yield management and revenue maximization tools. Constantly seek new ways to increase room revenue and occupancy
• Works closely with the sales team and capitalize on all revenue opportunities while aggressively and effectively managing and continuously updating rates on the web and all other distribution channels
• Effectively control and manage all front office and operational expenses including labor, overtime, supplies etc., and seek and implement cost savings strategies
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferably in hotel, restaurant or retail management required
• 2 years of supervisory/management experience strongly preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills required
• Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc); PMS experience preferred
• Profit and loss and budgeting experience strongly preferred
• Sales background and rate/yield management experiences are preferred
