Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. We serve all WI tribes by providing administration of grant-funded programs either directly or with sub grants. Programs range from Child and Maternal services to Education to Disability and Elder benefits. Our Mission is: To Enhance the Quality of Life for all Native People.
Position Summary
Provides support to the accounting department and CFO as needed. Daily attendance is a primary responsibility. Minimal travel is required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Data entry of accounts payables, cash receipts, and cash disbursements into accounting software.
• Check processing/breakdown - stuff envelopes and give to receptionist to add postage and mail.
• Reconciles accounts payable statements; follows up on unpaid invoices.
• Update and maintain accounting records and vendor information.
• Reconcile, at least monthly, accounting records - physical to electronic.
• Prepare invoice and/or vouchers as needed for administration; this includes CEO, Deputy Assistant/Compliance Officer, Grant Writer, HR Director, Planning Director, Custodian, and accounting department.
• Orders and maintains supplies for break room/kitchen area.
• Maintains a resources of repeat use information such as where to order supplies from.
• Responsible for maintenance of printer in accounting office.
• Prepares and maintains credit applications and/or direct billing as needed.
• Prepares expenses reports and vouchers for Board of Directors meetings.
• Point of contract for cell phones; works with CFO for approvals.
• Assist CFO with keeping track of fixed assets.
• Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist lead and staff accountants with program accountability, such as, verifying accuracy of line items, dates, and if costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable.
• Engages in networking activities to ensure awareness of services available.
• Attends all trainings and meetings as scheduled.
• Seeks and attends additional trainings, conferences, or seminars as need to stay current on job related subject matters.
Working Relationships and Scope:
Reports directly to the CFO. Frequent contact with other employees throughout the organization for the purpose of gathering and providing information to resolve concerns and provide information.

Supports mission of Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. Demonstrate a basic understanding of tribal customs, traditions, values, and beliefs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
An equivalent combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered. Required: Associate degree in accounting and one - three years of experience working in a computerized accounting office. Preferred: Experience working with purchasing and procurement. Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency. Individual must possess: Working knowledge of computer programs, from web browsers to multi authentication websites; excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-directed and self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Individual must be able to follow routine instructions and apply logic in the solving of various computer related issues. Must be able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must be an effective and cooperative team player.
This is a full-time non-exempt position based on skills and experience, with a pay range of $20 - $22 dollars per hour, depending on years of experience, relevant experience, education and populations you have worked with. This position is in our Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin office. This position is not a remote position.
