Job description

About the Role

This role is responsible for the complete financial management of a growing portfolio of commercial and residential real estate entities. . The position owns the accounting function end-to-end — including day-to-day transaction processing, financial reporting, investor communications, cash flow management across multiple entities and banking platforms, and coordination with construction and development teams.

This is a hands-on role with no direct reports. The individual in this position will personally execute the work — from recording journal entries and booking transactions to preparing investor reports and managing monthly close. Success requires deep real estate accounting expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to independently manage multiple entities and ownership structures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle accounting for multiple real estate LLCs and ownership structures
  • Oversee cash flow management across multiple companies, banking platforms, and funding sources, including daily cash flow management, liquidity forecasting, intercompany transfers, and capital allocation
  • Booking acquisitions and dispositions from settlement statements
  • Capital contributions, distributions, and capital account tracking
  • Intercompany loans and partnership accounting
  • Construction and development cost capitalization (land, soft costs, interest)
  • Loan accounting, debt tracking, and lender reporting
  • Monthly and quarterly financial reporting
  • NOI, cash flow, and portfolio-level performance reporting
  • Preparing investor reporting packages
  • Coordinating with external CPAs for tax filings and K-1 support
  • Supporting construction draws and development tracking


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of direct real estate accounting experience (multi-entity required)
  • Experience with real estate/property accounting software (examples): Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, RealPage, Buildium, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.
  • Strong understanding of partnership accounting and investor flows
  • Experience reading and booking real estate settlement statements
  • Working knowledge of real estate tax strategy and transaction tax implications
  • Ability to operate independently and own the accounting function
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • CPA preferred but not required
