Data Center Rack & Stack Technician

Location: Multiple Data Center Locations throughout New Jersey
Employment Type: Contract

Onsite hours are as follows: 11 AM to 8PM or 12PM to 9PM


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Rack & Stack Technician to support installations and infrastructure projects across multiple data center locations in New Jersey. The ideal candidate has hands-on data center experience and is capable of working independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, retrieve, unbox, and organize incoming equipment shipments.
  • Maintain organized inventory and staging areas.
  • Install, rack, de-rack, and cable offline (non-production) servers, network equipment, and peripherals.
  • Perform rack and de-rack activities within production cabinets during scheduled after-hours maintenance windows.
  • Complete rack, stack, patching, and structured cabling tasks according to data center standards.
  • Ensure proper cable management, labeling, and documentation.
  • Follow all site safety, security, and operational procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and onsite teams regarding project status and completion.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a data center environment is required.
  • Proven experience with server and network equipment rack and stack deployments.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling, patching, and cable management best practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working after business hours when required for production activities.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Must provide and use personal hand tools required to perform rack and stack installations.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in enterprise or colocation data centers.
  • Familiarity with data center best practices and change management procedures.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

  • Work will be performed at multiple data center locations throughout New Jersey.
  • Candidates must have reliable transportation to travel between job sites as needed.
  • Lunch breaks are unpaid and should be deducted from time worked.
