Job description


Contract Type: 6-12 months (possible extension)
Location: Utah - Hybrid (local to Utah)
Schedule: 40 hours per week

We are hiring an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a critical data center migration and infrastructure deployment initiative in a high-availability environment. This contract role will manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, vendor coordination, risk management, and executive reporting. The successful candidate will ensure all activities meet operational targets, compliance requirements, and migration deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead data center migration and co-location infrastructure projects, including cage construction, equipment delivery, rack and stack, and cutover planning

  • Coordinate internal technical teams and external vendors for smooth project execution

  • Maintain comprehensive project plans with milestones, dependencies, and critical path tracking

  • Track risks in a detailed risk register and implement proactive mitigation strategies

  • Facilitate application validation, user acceptance testing, and failover testing to confirm operational readiness

  • Ensure compliance with PCI DSS Level 1 and HIPAA requirements during all migration activities

  • Monitor project budgets for co-location facilities, circuits, and infrastructure costs

  • Produce weekly status reports and communicate project health to executive leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of IT project management experience, including 3+ years in data center or infrastructure initiatives

  • Proven experience managing data center migrations, co-location deployments, or large-scale infrastructure buildouts

  • Strong understanding of data center operations: power, cooling, rack/stack, cross-connects, and carrier coordination

  • Experience in PCI DSS and/or HIPAA regulated environments

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors and external partners

  • Proficient in project planning, change management, and enterprise project management tools

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical updates to executives

  • Experience managing high availability projects with 99.99% uptime and zero-downtime migration objectives
