The Quoting Analyst is responsible for supporting the quoting and pricing process for Mill Steel's contractual carbon business. Reporting to the Quoting Manager, this role serves as a central resource for quote preparation, pricing analysis, and customer opportunity support across multiple product categories, including hot rolled, cold rolled, and coated steel.

The Quoting Analyst partners with Sales, Purchasing, Finance, and Product Management to develop competitive pricing recommendations that align with company objectives and customer requirements. This position utilizes market data, CRM tools, and internal business systems to support timely and accurate quote development while ensuring compliance with company processes and pricing guidelines.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and interested in developing expertise in market pricing, commercial analysis, and process improvement within the steel industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and support daily quoting activities for the contractual carbon business
  • Prepare pricing recommendations and quote packages for review and approval
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for pricing requests from the Sales team
  • Review customer quote opportunities for completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure quotes are processed accurately and within established response timelines
  • Follow up on open quote opportunities and support Sales with quote status updates
Market Analysis
  • Monitor commodity indexes, market pricing trends, and supply chain cost changes that may impact customer pricing
  • Develop an understanding of customer industries, applications, and market conditions
  • Support pricing decisions through research and analysis of market conditions, customer requirements, and business objectives
  • Assist in maintaining competitive market awareness by monitoring industry and pricing trends
CRM & Data Management
  • Maintain and update CRM records to ensure customer, quote, and opportunity information remains accurate and current
  • Ensure all quote activity is appropriately documented and follows company policies and procedures
  • Assist in developing reports and maintaining data used to support quoting and commercial decision-making
  • Maintain customer pricing records and supporting documentation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales, Purchasing, Finance, and Product Management to support pricing and quoting decisions
  • Participate in quote review discussions and provide analysis to support business decisions
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding quote status, pricing considerations, and customer requirements
  • Support customer program launches
Performance Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Analyze awarded business and post-sale performance against quoted assumptions
  • Identify and communicate pricing, application, or execution gaps to management
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve quoting processes, reporting, and data quality
  • Support initiatives to automate routine quoting activities and enhance CRM capabilities
  • Participate in projects focused on improving efficiency, accuracy, and customer responsiveness
Qualifications:Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in quoting, pricing, sales support, purchasing, analytics, customer service, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
  • Experience working with CRM systems or business reporting tools
  • Exposure to manufacturing, metals, distribution, or industrial markets
  • Knowledge of data analysis, reporting, or process improvement methodologies
  • Interest in automation, business intelligence, and technology-enabled process improvements
