Job Description:
we’re on a mission to deliver a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SAP Functional Analyst with deep expertise in SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM)Production Planning (PP) and/or Materials Management (MM) to join our Manufacturing IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and validating functional business requirements, designing, developing and configuring SAP solutions, and ensuring seamless integration across systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on the company-wide SaaS First initiative on the SAP platform, driving innovation while ensuring compliance with General Motors’ IT Solution Delivery Methodology.
You will also help rationalize a large portfolio of manufacturing and plant applications, determining which solutions are integrated with or absorbed into SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Manufacturing, and which are retired, in alignment with GM’s SaaS First strategy.
This is a hands-on role that combines functional expertise, solution design, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership—including hands-on ABAP development—to deliver high-quality SAP solutions that support our supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Job Description

  • Work with leading technologies from SAP and the latest integration and support packages across SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Manufacturing.
  • Lead requirements gathering, validation, and documentation for SAP Digital Manufacturing, PP and/or MM solution components.
  • Evaluate the current manufacturing application landscape across hundreds of plant and shop-floor applications and help determine which solutions are integrated with, absorbed into, or retired in favor of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Manufacturing.
  • Work as part of a regional or global project team and assist the project manager in successfully delivering solutions following General Motors’ proprietary IT Solution Delivery Methodology.
  • Participate in global projects that span process teams including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, and Aftersales.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional analysts on the design, development, testing, deployment, and user training of SAP solutions.
  • Lead and support the SAP functional needs for SAP implementation and Application Management projects, including business and functional process gap analysis (including required customizations), documentation, and configuration while adhering to GM SDLC methodologies (including Agile).
  • Ensure each solution has a comprehensive testing approach and end-to-end process validation, guiding and working collaboratively with Quality Assurance teams.
  • Work on large-scale global and regional implementations as well as smaller, faster innovation challenges.
  • Provide Application Management support, leading the troubleshooting of production issues in areas of functional expertise, working closely and coordinating investigation of problems with ABAP developers, Basis Administrators, Infrastructure and Operations teams.
  • Support the introduction of new solutions to business customers as well as transitioning stable solutions to the sustain/operations organization.
  • Create and maintain process documents, configuration guides, and training materials.
  • Advise the team and business partners on best practices for SAP Digital Manufacturing, PP, and MM.
  • Maintain expertise in SAP configuration / customization tools and techniques and stay current with SAP roadmap and GM standards.
  • Lead integration of SAP software solutions within GM’s environments and external partner landscapes, including manufacturing plants and supply chain partners.
  • Where applicable, work with SAP BTP, SAP Plant Connectivity / Production Connector, and industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT) to integrate SAP with plant-floor systems.
  • Comply with GM standards and industry best practices for security, auditability, performance, and supportability.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and personal development, including ongoing training and development in SAP and modern delivery techniques.
  • Proactively seek opportunities within the SAP solution portfolio that can benefit business partners, reduce technical debt, and simplify the application landscape.
  • Provide support and consultancy to users on optimization of SAP system use and best practices to maximize value from existing IT solutions (SAP systems and other applications integrated with them).

Requirements

  • SAP certification in SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM) and PP and/or MM.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environments; implementation experience in automotive factories strongly preferred, or at least complex manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant SAP PP and MM project delivery (10+ years preferred), including configuration and designing and testing non-standard functionalities (RICEFW = Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows).
  • Hands-on ABAP development experience in ECC and/or S/4HANA, including design, build, and debugging of RICEFW objects and modern extensibility (e.g., RAP, OData, CDS where applicable).
  • Extensive hands-on experience in SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP S/4HANA, including deployments in RISE with SAP environments.
  • Significant experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain domains with expertise in end-to-end business processes (e.g., Plan-to-Produce, materials planning, logistics integration).
  • Business-facing experience (preferably in manufacturing) running requirements workshops, solution design presentations, and user training.
  • Experience delivering solutions in regulated environments with internal and external standards (e.g., SOX, internal controls, country-specific legal and tax requirements).
