Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of full-time experience working as a bookkeeper, in banking, or in a closely-related financial position
  • Knowledge of accounting practices
  • Experience using Quickbooks
  • Attached Resume
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferences:

  • Experience working for a government agency, non-profit, or cultural organization
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position serves as the bookkeeper for the Friends of Florida History, Inc., the citizen support organization (CSO) for the Florida Division of Historical Resources. A successful applicant will work independently to perform financial and administrative tasks to support the CSO. Duties include:

  • Conducts bookkeeping tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Files and tracks all income/expenditures, recording to appropriate fund accounts
    • Processes end-of-month transfers prior to reconciliation with the independent accounting firm
    • Pays invoices in a timely manner
    • Prepares reports for various program areas
    • Enters data using QuickBooks Online
    • Obtains signatures for checks
  • Assists store managers with administrative tasks, participates in inventory, and exchanges money at the bank
  • Assists with the financial administration of the CSO including generating reports on request, helping with annual audits, and maintaining relevant financial records
  • Supports staff managing the CSO membership program, including generating correspondence, and record keeping
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain professional and effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and members of the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow policies and maintain established standards.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
  • Strong computer literacy focused on the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong organizational skills.
