Job description

General Summary:

Responsibilities include working with all levels of MTI personnel (Corporate and Plant) in the development and maintenance of quality systems that meet or exceed all related industry standards. Along with the Vice President Quality develop and maintain the MTI Operating System including developing and monitoring policies and procedures. Travel is required for this position.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be available to work at any of the plants on an as needed basis to help in problem resolution or special projects that require additional resources, i.e. Launch Teams, Continuous Improvement Teams.
  • Facilitate the training and development efforts of quality personnel.
  • Assists in investigation of product defects and recommendations of modifications in product, process and/or quality standards as warranted.
  • Establish and track quality measurables to monitor internal and external quality performance of all MTI Facilities and report findings and recommendations to the Vice President Quality.
  • Assist in the documentation and submission of PPAP for new and changed products.
  • Assist in maintaining the Corrective / Preventive Action System.
  • Support manufacturing plants in the implementation of โ€œBest Practiceโ€ processes and procedures.
  • Perform internal auditing to the appropriate industry standard (i.e. IATF 16949 and ISO 9001).
  • Audit suppliers on an as needed basis. Work with suppliers on problem resolution when necessary.
  • Manage quality related projects as defined by the Vice President Quality.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in the IATF 16949 standards and their requirements.
  • Knowledge in AIAG Core Tools (SPC, PPAP, APQP, MSA, FMEA)
  • Proficient in GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, practices and principles
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent team leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex situations and make timely recommendations.
  • Competent in use of personal computers, software and systems.

  • The Senior Quality Engineer will reside in the office, however, will be in the plant occasionally.ย  Must be able to adhere to conditions of the plant.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Engineering or technical degree and/or ASQ certification strongly preferred.
  • 5 -10 years of Quality or related experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably in the foundry and/or machining industry.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.ย ย ย ย
