Role Description The Purchasing Manager is a full-time, on-site role responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, components, and services necessary for stamping and robotically welded assembly operations. The Purchasing Manger controls all requests for quotes for new business. Day-to-day tasks include sourcing and evaluating suppliers, negotiating pricing and contracts, issuing purchase orders, and monitoring delivery schedules to ensure timely availability of materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilizes quote system to competitively bid out all new projects and business, and evaluates all quotations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and exceptions.
- Issues and tracks quotes, summarize results, and present to Sales and Engineering for awarding of new business.
- Continually develops supply base with existing and new suppliers to meet quality, innovation, delivery, and pricing requirements.
- Researches and finds suppliers of new products/product lines for specific customer applications.
- Reviews all purchase requisitions to determine need and negotiate best price and terms for items being requested.
- Reviews customers' orders and releases and insures they are properly loaded into the manufacturing system and orders are placed timely and accurately for all purchased items.
- Leads improvement efforts within the manufacturing facility to improve overall inventory levels and purchasing efficiency.
- Develops packaging requirements with customer on new programs.
- Maintains optimal inventory level of materials and parts for all Raw, WIP and Finished Goods.
- Tracks and monitors delivery performance of suppliers including all premium freight.
- Works closely with Quality Manager to assist with supplier quality issues and resolution. Works with the supplier to identify root cause, permanent corrective action, and verification that action is working properly.
- Visits suppliers on a regular basis to maintain communication, provide updates on programs, and new requirements from the Company and its customers.
- Responsible for identifying prototype suppliers and coordinating prototype builds and schedules with suppliers.
- Supervises Purchasing Team members

Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations management, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience with purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Automotive supplier experience preferred.
- APICS certification preferred
- Knowledge of metal stamping, welding, or similar industrial processes is a plus.
- Strong skills in vendor sourcing, cost negotiation, and contract management.
- Ability to analyze inventory levels, lead times, and material requirements to support production schedules.
- Proficiency with purchasing or ERP systems (Plex preferred), spreadsheets, and other relevant business software.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
