Position Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting warehouse operations, and ensuring inventory integrity across all warehouse locations. This position works closely with receiving, warehouse, production, shipping, planning, purchasing, and finance teams to investigate inventory discrepancies and improve inventory-related processes.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, process-driven, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counts

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts based on ABC inventory classifications
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and system inventory
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP systems (TipTop/SAP)
  • Research inventory variances and determine root causes
  • Monitor inventory transactions for errors or abnormal activity
  • Support inventory adjustments with proper documentation and required approvals

Warehouse & Inventory Control Operations

  • Maintain organized warehouse locations with proper inventory labeling
  • Ensure materials are stored in correct locations and accurately identified
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of warehouse location systems
  • Support warehouse cleanliness and inventory organization initiatives
  • Help prevent material loss, misplacement, and inventory damage

ERP / System Transactions

  • Process inventory transactions accurately and timely within TipTop/SAP
  • Monitor transaction errors and assist in correcting system-related issues
  • Track inventory movement between warehouses and storage locations
  • Assist with inventory reporting and basic data analysis

Production & Operational Support

  • Support production teams by ensuring inventory availability and accuracy
  • Assist with material shortages and inventory investigations
  • Coordinate with planning, purchasing, and warehouse teams regarding inventory concerns
  • Help maintain inventory flow to support production schedules

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse processes
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to receiving, storage, and inventory handling
  • Recommend corrective actions to reduce recurring inventory discrepancies
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support departmental and company goals

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in inventory control, cycle counting, warehouse operations, or material flow within a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and investigate discrepancies
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes of inventory variances  Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and/or TipTop preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability and accuracy
