Job Summary:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for analytical reporting, volume allowance tracking, collections, and contract upkeep for the Purchasing department.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Organize, maintain, and track Broker and Manufacturer programs and contracts.
  • Review and analyze Field Compliance to all Purchasing Programs.
  • Assist in resolution of vendor/supplier issues.
  • Enter and retrieve information using Excel and PeopleSoft.
  • Assist in preparing specifications for all purchases, vendor selection for bids, and analysis of quotation for all major purchases.
  • Prepare, review, analyze and process requisitions and purchase orders all procurement. As assigned, obtain quotes for stock and special order items. Research availability, quality, and pricing of equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Assist in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, implementing and enforcing new policies and procedures, forms, programs, and trainings as directed.
  • Answer phone and general e-mail inquiries for Purchasing Department. Field/answer all routine and non-routine questions.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred and 2-3 years experience in purchasing in a food and beverage environment. Accounting background is helpful.
  • Willingness to learn and educate. A strong desire for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • High energy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people; ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to problem solve.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel (to include Vlook-up formulas), Word, and PowerPoint. PeopleSoft knowledge preferred.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit at a desk in front of a computer for the entire work day.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Continually interacts with and receives verbal communication with other employees.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 15 lbs. occasionally, up to 30 lbs. seldom.
