Millwright โ€“ Pulp & Paper Industry (Heavy Travel Required)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Millwright to join our team supporting pulp and paper mills nationwide. This position requires extensive travel, with competitive travel pay and per diem provided. Youโ€™ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy industrial equipment such as pulpers, refiners, pumps, conveyors, dryers, turbines, rolls and fans.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Travel to customer sites to install, align, and repair rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, and paper-making machinery.
  • Perform precision alignments on motors, shafts, and couplings.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and replace worn parts to reduce downtime.
  • Fabricate, cut, weld, and machine components as needed.
  • Safely move and position heavy equipment using rigging and hoisting devices.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend solutions.
  • Follow all mill safety procedures and document maintenance work.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance/construction experience; 3+ years as a Millwright (pulp & paper or heavy industry preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively for project assignments.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pumps, and conveyors.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.).
  • Skilled in welding, cutting, machining, and rigging practices.
  • Safety-minded, reliable, and able to work overtime/weekends as needed.
  • Must have own set of Journeyman Millwright tools.

Physical Requirements

Employee will be required to perform large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day as needed. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, muffs, masks, respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
