The partnership includes a 77-bed acute care hospital and outpatient programs. Located on the KVC Missouri Children's Mental Wellness Campus conveniently located in Webster Groves, Missouri, the peaceful environment and broad continuum of care allow children and families to access the appropriate level of treatment throughout their healing experience. Job Summary
The Unit Clerk provides assistance for medical and nursing staff at KVC Hospitals facilities. This position may work in both acute and residential settings depending upon location. The Unit Clerks are responsible for adhering to the Employee Manual, Operations Manual and organizational policies and procedures in completing job responsibilities. When needed will assist with direct care of patients.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) from an accredited high school.
Licensure/Certification: Current Certified Nursing Aide or Certified Medication Aide preferred. Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.
Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training in a hospital or other care facility. Experience working with individuals with behavioral problems preferred.
Preferred Experience/Skills: Requires intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook email.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nurses with lab and X ray orders.
  • Assists phlebotomist with gathering patients for labs in the morning
  • Files and scans documents into EHR (ex-lab results, faxes pharmacy orders and behavioral health tech sheets
  • Answer and screen calls for the charge nurse
  • Ordering Supplies - hospital and office supplies and stocking supplies
  • Assists in cleaning and organizing units to make them "Tour Ready" when necessary
  • Submits work orders
  • Daily Log of the Refrigerator temps
  • Compiles unit census and updates bed list and risk status changes
  • Faxes documents (Rx refills, consents to admissions, bridge on discharge, etc.)
  • Coordinates patients's off-site appointments and special services (ex: interpreters)
  • Creates paper charts for new admissions
  • Obtains vital signs and EKG as delegated by a nurse
  • Helps coordinate discharges with the unit nurse and staff (print off discharge paperwork, enter discharge survey results, etc.)
  • Scan ER records Labs and EKG into EHR
  • Works with nursing staff to ensure patient photographs are up to date in paper and electronic charts
  • Obtain medical records from other Hospitals like ER or other psychiatric hospitals
  • Following up on orders of psychological testing / Competency evaluation.
  • Obtaining assessment reports of psychological testing and Competency evaluation.
  • Ensures all printed orders has been transcribed and signed by Physicians
  • Attends staff meeting as directed
  • Attends and completes all required in-service training and course work on an annual basis per agency requirements

Additional duties may be assigned based on organizational needs and staff qualifications.

This role involves a mix of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, along with regular use of office equipment. You'll work in a professional office setting with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
