The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program is a federal initiative that forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after the borrower has made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer, typically a government or nonprofit organization. This program is designed to encourage individuals to enter and continue working in public service jobs. To qualify, borrowers must submit an annual employment certification form and ensure their loans and payments meet the program's requirements. Proper documentation and following the program's guidelines are essential to receive forgiveness.
