Job description

Work Location: Corporate Office
Property Accountant: The primary responsibilities of the role are to assist the Senior Property Accountant in accounting and reporting of all Student Apartments, as assigned, in which The Preiss Company is the property manager.
Essential Job Functions:
  • For specifically assigned properties, along with support and guidance of Senior Property Accountant, ensure that the following is completed:
    • Accurate balance sheet reconciliation to sub-ledgers and/or supporting documentation and income statement review at month-end including, but not limited to:
      • Bank reconciliations including clean up significantly aged outstanding checks
      • Accounts Payable and Accruals
      • Accounts Receivable, Bad Debts, Security Deposits and Prepaid Rents
      • Mortgage and escrow balances
      • Taxes, Insurance
      • Identification and reclassification of transactions miscoded
    • Additional closing procedures as required
    • Assist in getting all monthly documents scanned into Google Drive
    • Assign easily completed and basic tasks to Accounting Assistant
  • Special Projects and other tasks As Assigned by Senior Property Accountant and Property Controller

Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science, with a concentration in Accounting.

Other Expectations:
  • Ability to work and support a team environment.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude and possess the ability to respond quickly to other departments including all members of the Accounting Team, Executive Team, Property Management and Property Employees.
  • If phone calls or personal matters occur while in the office, be mindful of others around you and limit distractions.
  • Timely notify Senior Property Accountant and Property Controller of all PTO requests and maintain in Accounting Calendar.
  • Timely notify Senior Property Accountant and Property Controller if not going to be in office during prescribed hours.

Work Environment:
  • In office 60% of the week (3 out of 5 days) and 40% work from home (2 out of 5 days).
