Financial Controller - Full Time, Hybrid

As our Financial Controller, you will manage the day-to-day finance team operations. The Financial Controller will assist the CFO to continue building and managing effective and streamlined financial systems by ensuring integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the organization’s financial operations. This role manages accounting systems, financial reporting, internal control and compliance implementation, audit readiness and submissions, and payroll oversight. The Financial Controller will act as a right hand to the CFO and provide timely and accurate financial reports and cash flow reports.

Schedule

Full-time, flexible.

Hybrid (on-site + remote), offered after successful completion of introductory training period.

Pay

Up to $110,000 per year, based on experience.

You will be eligible for medical benefits the first of the month following your first 30 days. We have options for a standard plan, as well as an HSA with a $100 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. You would receive 10 paid holidays as well as PTO hours which would accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months you would be eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. We also provide company paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and paid credentialing. SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Job Responsibilities of a Financial Controller

  • Responsible for preparation of daily cash report and 12-month cash flow projection for month end reporting to the CFO to assist in making cash flow management decisions.
  • Ensure compliance of fiscal process, policies and procedures, and communication changes made to leadership and finance team.
  • Responsible for management and reconciliation of General Ledger and Balance Sheet for month end reporting.
  • Oversee finance team in month end financial reporting preparation and finalize report package and metrics for the CFO to review.
  • Assist CFO in annual budget process and prepare any new program pro-forma budgets for CFO review.
  • Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the organization.
  • Develop a close working relationship with Sr. Director of Revenue Cycle Management to provide interdepartmental communication and develop a month end evaluation of revenue to support month reporting package for CFO and COO.
  • Review and prepare all payroll allocations and monitor grants and contracts for any staffing allocation changes required.
  • Monitor grants and contracts to ensure spend down of all funds within the contract period.

Qualifications of a Financial Controller

Successful candidates will have 5-8 years of progressive professional experience in finance management, including the administration of a $15MM and over organization budget experiencing high growth (preference given to experience in the healthcare industry). They will have experience creating and driving the financial framework for planning and managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial organization.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Finance.
  • Proven effective leader with 5-8 years’ experience in financial management/accounting, audit, and compliance, ideally in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies and guiding investment in people and systems; ability to lead and motivate others to achieve agreed-upon results in a team-oriented environment.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical skills, critical thinking, time management, planning, and problem-solving skills displayed in work output.
  • Strong emotional intelligence; experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse and dynamic team.
