About Position:

  • Work Location: 88 Vilcom Center Dr., Suite 110, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary -The Assistant Controller supports the financial operations of the organization by assisting with accounting oversight, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, budgeting, and audit preparation. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal and state regulations, Uniform Guidance, HRSA requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards. 

The Assistant Controller works closely with the Controller and leadership team to maintain sound fiscal management practices that support Piedmont Health Services’ mission of providing high-quality healthcare services to the underserved community.

This position will have direct supervisory responsibility for designated members of the finance team, including Senior and Staff Accountants/Analysts, as well as Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff. Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications -

Education: BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.

Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), strongly preferred.

Experience:  

  • 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with grants management (HRSA grants preferred), fund accounting, single audits, and federal compliance.
  • Supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, CHC or FQHC environments, strongly preferred;

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Proficient with accounting systems (e.g., MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Fixed Assets, PlanSource) and healthcare PM/EHR billing systems. 
  • Knowledge of HRSA/FQHC financial compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of federal grant management and Uniform Guidance regulations. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment

Pay Range: $111,854 to $150,322 (commensurate with years of experience)
