Job description

Proper Burger is looking for a dedicated FOH employee to join our team. Potential candidates must be willing to learn and work well in a high stress environment and exhibit strong stress management skills and techniques. Candidate must have excellent customer service skills, a food handler card, a DABC on premise license, and are expected to learn about and maintain an extensive and thorough understanding of Proper Brewing Co. beer and Proper Burger Co.’s menu and. They must also be customer service professionals, team players, goal oriented, motivated and alert, willing to follow direction, and able to maintain a positive attitude before, during, and after service. There are three positions that pertain to this position: cashier, bartender, and expo, one would be expected to work whichever position they are assigned to work by the manager on duty.

Cashier duties include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning the bathrooms, including the downstairs employee bathroom
  • Taking orders over the phone and in person through the POS system
  • Delivering food to both the patrons at the bar and the restaurant
  • Bussing tables
  • Restocking the expo area, the drink station, drink refrigerators, and the shake station
  • Opening/closing the dining room
  • Handling the cash till
  • Making correct change and collecting payment with both cash and card
  • Applying credit card tips to the days signed tickets
  • Sweeping and mopping
  • Maintaining a clean and well organized work space
  • Taking direction from the Manager on duty
  • Obeying instruction
  • Taking out the trash and recycling
  • Keeping the walk-in and dry storage areas organized and clean
  • Keeping track of your own posted schedule
  • Being punctual and on time
  • Setting up/breaking down the patio and furniture
  • Portioning sauces and dressings
  • Cleaning and restocking the shake machine
  • Making milkshakes

Bartender duties include but are not limited to:

  • All duties that are expected of a cashier
  • Recording starting berg counts and alcohol amounts
  • Keeping track of and recording alcohol sales
  • Making cocktails
  • Pouring draft beer correctly
  • Preparing cocktail garnishes i.e. lime and lemon wedges
  • Keeping glassware clean and free of smudges and lipstick
  • Making bloody mary and margarita mix when necessary

Expo duties include but are not limited to:

  • All duties that are expected of a cashier
  • Communicating with the chef on duty professionally and positively
  • Assigning completed food orders to the cashier running food
  • Making sure that the food is timed correctly
  • Making sure the food is made correctly pertaining to Proper Burger Co. standards
  • Making sure the food is made correctly pertaining to the modification on the ticket
  • Making sure the food stays hot and is delivered hot
  • Portioning French fries and onion rings accurately
  • Keeping the fry sauce and proper sauce stocked and on ice during service
  • Assigning milkshakes to be made as necessary
  • Consolidating to-go items correctly and keeping them hot and fresh
