Job description

Contract-to-Hire
Morristown, NJ

The Project Manager is responsible for managing and driving business initiatives from planning through completion, with a strong focus on execution, operational efficiency, and the practical use of AI. This individual will work across multiple stakeholders and functional areas to create structure, establish clear plans and priorities, identify and resolve roadblocks, and ensure initiatives are successfully delivered.

This role requires someone who can manage the traditional responsibilities of project management, including meetings, schedules, documentation, stakeholder coordination, risks, issues, and follow-ups, while going beyond project coordination to actively drive work forward. The ideal candidate is highly accountable, demonstrates strong critical thinking and sound judgment, and can independently determine what needs to happen next to achieve the desired outcome.

The Project Manager will also help advance the use of AI and automation within existing workflows. This does not require an AI development or engineering background, but the individual should be an advanced practical user of AI tools who understands how they can be applied to improve productivity, efficiency, communication, and execution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage multiple projects, initiatives, and workstreams from planning through execution and completion.

• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, action items, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.

• Drive projects and business initiatives forward by establishing clear ownership, next steps, timelines, and accountability.

• Facilitate meetings and working sessions, document key decisions and action items, and ensure appropriate follow-through.

• Partner with stakeholders across different business and functional areas to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and maintain alignment.

• Identify risks, issues, dependencies, and potential roadblocks and proactively develop solutions or escalate when appropriate.

• Apply critical thinking and independent judgment to evaluate challenges, determine appropriate next steps, and keep initiatives progressing toward completion.

• Effectively communicate project status, priorities, risks, decisions, and outstanding actions to stakeholders and leadership.

• Create and maintain project documentation and other materials necessary to support successful execution.

• Manage changing priorities and requirements while assessing their impact on timelines, deliverables, and stakeholders.

• Leverage AI tools to improve project management, documentation, communication, analysis, productivity, and day-to-day workflows.

• Identify opportunities to expand the use of AI and automation to improve operational efficiency and execution.

• Support the continued improvement of project management and execution practices, helping create greater consistency, accountability, and predictability in how work is delivered.

Required Skills:

• Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• High level of integrity, accountability, and ownership.

• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to independently drive work forward and follow projects and initiatives through completion.

• Strong stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills.

• Strong meeting facilitation, communication, documentation, and follow-through skills.

• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with individuals across a wide range of disciplines and organizational levels.

• Ability to understand the broader business objective while also managing detailed project requirements and deliverables.

• Strong practical knowledge and use of AI tools to improve productivity and business workflows.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and common project management and collaboration tools.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

• 3–5 years of project management, PMO, business operations, execution, or related experience.

• Demonstrated experience independently managing projects, initiatives, or workstreams and driving them through completion.

• Experience working in a large, complex organization preferred.

• Financial services or broader financial-industry experience preferred but not required.

• Experience using AI, GenAI, automation, or emerging digital tools within professional workflows strongly preferred.
