What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Project Finance Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Project Finance Intern, you need a solid grasp of financial modeling, accounting principles, and analytical skills, usually supported by coursework in finance, economics, or a related field. This exposure provides a well-rounded understanding of how large-scale projects are financed and managed within the organization.

What does a Project Finance Intern do?

A Project Finance Intern supports the financial analysis and structuring of large-scale projects, such as infrastructure, energy, or real estate developments. Their responsibilities typically include preparing financial models, conducting market research, assisting with due diligence, and helping draft presentations or reports for senior management. Interns often collaborate with different departments to gather data and learn about risk assessment and funding sources. This role provides valuable exposure to the processes involved in securing project funding and understanding financial decision-making in complex projects.
