A Project Finance Intern supports the financial analysis and structuring of large-scale projects, such as infrastructure, energy, or real estate developments. Their responsibilities typically include preparing financial models, conducting market research, assisting with due diligence, and helping draft presentations or reports for senior management. Interns often collaborate with different departments to gather data and learn about risk assessment and funding sources. This role provides valuable exposure to the processes involved in securing project funding and understanding financial decision-making in complex projects.

To thrive as a Project Finance Intern, you need a solid grasp of financial modeling, accounting principles, and analytical skills, usually supported by coursework in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with Excel, financial analysis software, and sometimes exposure to project management tools or databases is typically expected. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure accurate financial assessments, effective teamwork, and valuable contributions to project evaluations and reporting.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on as a project finance intern?
