Job duties:

  • Ensure that Girls Inc. is a welcoming and safe space for girls.
  • Use a warm and welcoming tone with girls.
  • Encourage girlsโ€™ strengths and curiosity.
  • Celebrate girlsโ€™ successes.
  • Express confidence in a classroom setting.
  • Maintain a productive classroom by utilizing appropriate student management techniques and working with the staff team to address classroom challenges and any challenging behaviors from girls.
  • Provide a safe environment for girls through:
  • Assisting with safety procedures and drills.
  • Assisting the staff team with maintaining a safe environment for girls to play and learn.
  • Participating in all required safety training.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities when appropriate.
  • Serve as a role model for girls in terms of social skills, communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Complete program paperwork, including daily outcome reports, attendance sheets, etc.
  • Substitute - Be ready to step in and assist in any classroom, on a transportation route, on a field trip, or in any other capacity necessary based on staffing levels and day-to-day needs in the centers.
  • Interact appropriately with girls and ensure that girls follow transportation rules while in Girls Inc. vehicles.
  • Have good communication with the supervisor regarding any concerns regarding girls on transportation.
  • Assist girls with meals and snacks as required.
  • Assist with wiping down/sanitizing high-touch areas of the classrooms as required.
  • Assist with driving Girls Inc. vehicles to pick up from school or transport girls to field trips and other activities.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Nebraska Daycare Licensing requires that candidates:
  • Have a High School Diploma AND A positive reference from a former employer verifying 1500 clock hours of experience in organized activities for young children (youth); or
  • Have a College Diploma AND/OR Transcripts indicating 3 credit hours in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development; or
  • โ€ข Have a High School Diploma AND written department plan by a supervisor to obtain 45 clock hours of training in admin, early childhood education, education, or child/youth development in a period to not exceed 6 months from the date of hire; and
  • Must submit to and be cleared by background check reviews.

You must be able to relate to children. Preference is given to candidates with experience working with children in a structured setting. Must be at least 19 years old. Preference is given to candidates who are 21 years old. Must possess a valid State of Nebraska driverโ€™s license and be accepted as a driver by Girls Inc.โ€™s insurance company.


Equipment/Software Use:

  • Computer โ€“ basic skills in Word and Excel
  • Classroom tools and supplies as part of program delivery
  • Copier and fax
  • Agency vehicle โ€“ 15-passenger van or mini-bus


Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift 15 โ€“ 20 lbs.
  • Able to communicate, to hear clearly, and see clearly.
  • High energy is required to work with children.
  • Some programming with girls is outside.


Schedule:

During the school year, hours are 1:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Summer hours average 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Schedules may vary when the girls have school holidays or parent-teacher conferences.

Schedules may vary during training weeks. There are occasional opportunities for additional weekend or evening hours.

Supervisor: Youth Evaluation and Staff Director

Overtime Status: exempt

Pay: $15 per hour
