Job description

Job Responsibilities:
  • Greets and registers all incoming patients professionally. Handles incoming and outgoing communications concisely and in a pleasant manner.
  • Answers telephone promptly, courteously using good telephone etiquette taking complete messages, providing adequate information and routing callers properly.
  • Schedules patient appointments for all physicians confirming the appointment one-day prior.
  • Obtains complete and accurate demographic and insurance information for each patient.
  • Collects on patient accounts and/or co-payments as indicated, maintaining accurate accounting of the petty cash fund daily and adequate change to facilitate payments.
  • Responds to patient inquires with regard to basic insurance or billing questions or provide a referral to appropriate staff member.
  • Restocks and maintains assigned work station and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Facilitates location of records, reports or other significant information or request by the physicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education: High school graduate or GED
Experience: Six months work experience in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing and computer experience desirable. Candidates who present themselves in a professional manner, both in person and on the telephone are preferred.
