DescriptionThe Adjunct Science Instructor will provide instruction for courses on a term-by-term basis, working days and possibly teaching online. This position reports to the Dean of Allied Health and Sciences. The Adjunct Instructor should have a main area of study in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Astronomy or related field(s). Classes are offered during the day time, on-line, and in the evening.
Salary for courses taught by adjunct instructors are calculated by the type of instruction and the number of credits for the course. Lecture and lab courses are paid per credit hour based on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement for faculty.

- Teach course materials in accordance with Course Content and Outcome Guides using instructional methodologies appropriate to the audience and the subject; e.g., group discussion, online, technology enhanced delivery and computers.
- Design and deliver supplemental teaching materials in a variety of ways to meet the needs of a broad range of learning abilities.
- Pursue professional development opportunities and remain current in area of expertise.
- Participate in instructor evaluation and assessment of student academic achievement and demonstrate modification of teaching techniques in accordance with assessment feedback.
- Cultivate a variety of teaching styles in order to provide quality learning experiences to a diverse student population.
- Works effectively using English written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills to meet all faculty requirements including, but not limited to: creating course syllabi, evaluating student progress, grading according to college policy and procedure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS- Frequently moving from stationary sitting positions to standing and walking.
QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Hold a master's degree in the subject area of instruction; or hold a master's degree in a related area and have completed at least 20 quarter hours of graduate credit in subject area.
- Preferred; experience using Canvas and community college teaching experience.
