Position Summary

The Production Assistant supports daily manufacturing operations by assisting with material handling, work order preparation, production coordination, and general shop floor support. This role helps ensure production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Assist production teams with daily manufacturing activities to meet production goals and deadlines
  • Prepare, organize, and stage materials, tools, and components for production jobs
  • Support machine operators, welders, fitters, or assemblers as directed
  • Track work orders, job travelers, and production paperwork for accuracy and completeness
  • Perform basic inspections to verify parts meet quality and specification requirements
  • Assist with inventory counts, material movement, and labeling
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety standards
  • Communicate production status, delays, or material shortages to supervisors
  • Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production operations
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
  • Must pass company administered tape measuring skills test
  • Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial equipment preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation in English required.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must maintain forklift and/or other required equipment certifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
  • Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
  • Must pass Fitness for Duty test
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection

Work Environment

Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate to loud noise. May be exposed to hot or cold environments depending on season. Work schedule may include overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
