Our client, an industrial equipment manufacturer based in the Greater Houston area, is seeking a growth-minded Production Manager who excels in forecasting, planning, and integrating automation to drive efficiency and sustainable growth. Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager will evaluate and enhance current SOPs, address production challenges, and develop a top-tier production team.
Working closely with the leadership team, the Production Manager will oversee production supervisors and team leaders in driving production goals across varying timelines, ensuring labor and material readiness and supporting on-time, cost-conscious project completion. Expertise in boosting production efficiency and exceptional leadership will be critical in fostering team growth and excellence, positioning the company to exceed goals.
Day-to-Day as Production Manager
  • Work closely with production staff to develop and maintain a master production plan across daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly timeframes; incorporating staffing, machine capacity, and delivery schedules to drive efficiency.
  • Develop shop objectives and budgets, monitoring spending to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Partner with department heads to ensure adequate training and development of staff and compliance with company's policies and practices.
  • Partner with the engineering team to ensure designs are easy and cost-effective to manufacture by engaging in drawing and design reviews.
  • Apply knowledge of product design, welding, machining, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials to identify, select, and install machines and processes to deliver on internal manufacturing needs.
  • Complete capacity planning including machining, welding, and labor hours estimates, ensuring work instructions will result in high-quality end product.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining and enforcing safety programs and policies that ensure the safety of personnel and an accident-free workplace.

What You Bring as Production Manager:
  • Experience managing a production operation, with an emphasis on custom fabrication in high-volume job shop environments.
  • Proven track record of success in implementing and maintaining highly efficient production programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity planning for an equipment manufacturer.
  • Degree. Bonus if in engineering, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of process equipment such as ASME pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, piping systems is desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of welding and machining processes is desired but not required.
  • Strong experience managing and growing teams, including department leaders and individual contributors. A people leader, able to teach, mentor, and inspire to elevate your department.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, from shop floor staff to senior management.
  • Tech-savvy: Proficient with ERP systems, production planning, and inventory control software and systems.
  • Proficiency in utilizing reporting functions within MS Excel.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of facilities management, including permitting, utilities, and safety.
