Job Title: Production Supervisor Department: Manufacturing

Reports to: Director of Operations Effective Date: 05/01/2024

Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor will direct and lead assembly operations, and schedule and coordinate both assembly and injection molding.


Key Accountabilities:

  • OEE
  • 5S and Safety (6S).
  • Direct labor efficiencies
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Worker compliance

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Overseas material handling area including accumulation of scrap, regrinding, regrind and resin storage.
  • Conducts production meeting with all shift lead process technicians.
  • Coordinates and schedules all assembly and injection molding operations using the shift schedule.
  • Oversees manufacturing inventory to include cardboard, resin, regrind, pallets, components, WIP ,and shipping supplies.
  • Conducts inventory and cycle counts ensuring materials are available based on production schedule.
  • Communicates material requirements with purchasing manager.
  • Establishes assembly production goals and ensures BOM cycle times are met.
  • Ensures that assembly production meets customer, quality, and BOM requirements.
  • Accurately records team members in ADP, assembly, or injection. Ensures team member time reports are accurate.
  • Authorizes full production once setup is complete and first piece approvals are validated.
  • Manage IQMS end of shift reporting, cycle counts, scrap data entry, and resolving disposition errors.
  • Enforce worker compliance with all work instructions, workorders, TWI’s, quality inspections, procedures, employee handbook, process discipline, and time and attendance policy.
  • Completes reporting requirements including equipment repair, damage, accident, injury, and production.
  • Complies with three-point control, reporting changes, abnormal conditions, and worker compliance.
  • Ensure team members are safe, adhere to PPE requirements, follow safety policies, complete assigned tasks in a safe manner.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.
  • Communicates regularly with Director of Operations regarding problems or issues impacting production.
  • Develops workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Basic skills with computers including Microsoft Outlook, word, and Teams.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with little or no guidance.
  • Provide shift personnel with a safe and friendly work environment.
  • Adhere to Starplast guiding principles including, positive can-do attitude, teamwork, coachability, respect, recognition, and accountability.
  • Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally; expresses ideas and thoughts in written form; exhibits good listening and comprehension; keeps others adequately informed; selects and uses appropriate communication methods.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Prior experience with production as a lead or supervisor.
  • Four years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
