Job description

Bearings Plus, part of Dover Precision Components, is hiring a Manufacturing Supervisor. WHAT YOU'LL DO
We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Supervisor to lead daily production operations in a precision machining and repair environment, for our BPI business. This position is responsible for supervising production personnel, driving safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity performance, and leading lean manufacturing initiatives throughout the operation. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining knowledge, demonstrated leadership experience, and a passion for lean manufacturing principles.
The Manufacturing Supervisor will work closely with Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Applications Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Operations leadership to ensure customer requirements are met while maximizing operational efficiency and profitability.
This role supervises approximately 16 machinists on 1st and 2nd shift.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise daily manufacturing activities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity objectives are achieved.
  • Manage, coach, and develop production personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor production schedules and allocate resources to meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including waste reduction, 5S, visual management, standard work, Kaizen events, and continuous process improvement.
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks that impact throughput, labor utilization, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, and documented manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Applications Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor labor efficiency, machine utilization, and operational performance metrics.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities, performance expectations, and operational goals.
  • Support workforce planning, employee training, cross-training, and succession development efforts.
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in root cause investigations related to quality, delivery, safety, and productivity concerns.
  • Assist in establishing departmental goals, KPIs, and improvement plans that align with company objectives.
  • Support inventory accuracy, workflow management, and effective material movement throughout the manufacturing process

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience within a machining, repair, or precision manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of machining operations including CNC machining, manual machining, tooling, workholding, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and make informed decisions that improve performance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee development skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, production scheduling, and manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, 5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, and Visual Management.
  • Ability to work throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate manufacturing equipment and production areas.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING/ PREFERENCES
  • Continuous Improvement certification(s) in Six Sigma or Lean.
  • Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience in turbomachinery, rotating equipment, and/or bearing and seal repair, is preferred.
  • Experience with custom engineered components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
