Founded by the Channell family in 1922, Channell is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV, among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection management systems, and high-performance below-grade vaults.

REPORTS TO: Quality Engineer
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Rockwall, TX
JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Auditor is responsible for performing inspections, audits, and quality verification activities to ensure products and processes meet company and customer requirements. This role supports the Quality Management System (QMS) by identifying non-conformances, documenting findings, and assisting with corrective action processes. The position works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and support continuous improvement efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Inspection & Audit Activities (PRIMARY FOCUS)
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Conduct receiving inspections of incoming materials and components
  • Perform internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements
  • Document inspection and audit results accurately and completely
  • Identify, document, and escalate nonconforming products or processes in accordance with company procedures, including initiating containment actions as required

Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Support
  • Identify and document non-conformances in products and processes
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure closure

Quality System Support
  • Support maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and internal procedures
  • Maintain quality records and documentation as required

Supplier & Receiving Quality Support
  • Assist with evaluation of supplier quality performance
  • Support supplier audits and corrective action follow-up as directed
  • Communicate quality issues related to incoming materials

Production & Cross-Functional Support
  • Work with production and engineering teams to address quality issues
  • Communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly and promptly
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and process control

Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment

General Responsibilities
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, consistent with business needs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to perform visual and/or dimensional inspections using standard measurement tools and inspection methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to verify product conformance
  • Ability to identify nonconformances and document findings in accordance with established quality procedures
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and documentation skills

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to understand and follow all departmental safety rules
  • Ability to understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Training in quality inspection techniques and auditing processes
  • Completion of training on applicable quality procedures, inspection methods, and ISO 9001 requirements as required by the role

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience performing manufacturing, quality inspection, or auditing activities in a production environment
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as required to perform job duties
  • Candidates may be required to demonstrate job-related knowledge and skills through practical or written assessment as part of the selection process

Preferred:
  • Experience with quality systems (ISO 9001)
  • Familiarity with basic statistical tools and inspection methods
