Nautilas Insurance is seeking a Senior Specialist, Product Development, to join their team.  This role is a technical role within product development to help drive the development of guidelines, new/updated products, forms, and maintain the health of the lines. 

  • Execute on tactical and strategic changes at the direction of the Line of Business leader to achieve operational plan objectives.
  • Collects, documents, and analyzes data from a variety of sources to assist in the evaluation of new products, programs, initiatives, and market opportunities to drive production and profitability goals. This includes, but is not limited to: policy language, underwriting guidelines, and pricing. It also includes the support of projects including research development, testing and rollout, as needed.
  • Assist with the development of forms for all three lines of business understanding the need to carve out the coverages, build coverage enhancements, and protect our portfolio.
  • Facilitate guideline change requests at the direction of the line of business leader to respond to market changes, profitability concerns, or judicial changes.
  • Supports the Product Development team in prioritizing projects and initiatives to ensure the organization’s strategic and operational goals are met.
  • Research, create and implement new or enhanced products, initiatives and market opportunities including form development, underwriting guidelines and pricing.
  • Maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the department to identify and provide training opportunities, provide business requirements to IT developers, and QA newly implemented product initiatives or projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including but not limited to: Production Underwriting, Marketing, Actuarial, Strategic Operations & Solutions, and IT, to ensure successful implementation and communication of new initiatives and guideline changes.
  • Assists in monitoring product line performance, including production, profitability, and auditing to ensure risk quality and help identify opportunities for growth.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all Commercial Lines products and programs, risk appetite and underwriting philosophy.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested by Product Innovation Leadership.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • AIS, ASLI, AU or CPCU are preferred.
  • 5-10 years of Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience in an underwriting capacity required.
  • 3 years of Commercial Lines Excess & Surplus experience preferred.
  • Experience navigating ISO and other regulatory service organizations.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
