Job description

GPW and Associates, a Beyond Risk affiliate company, is seeking an actuarial intern for Fall of 2026.

Job Summary:

Be a contributor on an experienced actuarial team in a collaborative environment. Enhance your actuarial skills through a diverse set of tasks including reviewing and visualizing insurance data and supporting loss reserving and pricing analyses for clients.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn about actuarial reserving methods and assist in the development of loss reserve projections.
  • Develop a toolkit of a modern actuary including data processing with SQL, data visualization, and data analysis using Excel/VBA, Python, and R.
  • Assist actuarial staff with pricing, reserving, and profitability analyses and work with mentors to prepare reports, exhibits, and presentations for management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Student in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field required; high GPA preferred
  • Successful completion of 1 or more actuarial exams is preferred but not required
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel and VBA experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of database programming; SQL experience preferred
  • Statistical knowledge: programming skills in R and/or Python preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively

This will be a part-time hybrid position with working at a minimum one day per week at GPW's central Phoenix location (Central and Earll). This is a paid internship with an expectation of 15 - 20 hours per week Monday through Friday; the hourly rate for this position depends upon experience and exams.
