Role Overview

Lectric eBikes is seeking a Director of Product Development to lead the companyโ€™s overall product strategy, innovation pipeline, and global product development execution across both the Lectric eBikes and Juiced Bikes portfolios. This leader will oversee the full lifecycle of all products โ€” from concept and industrial design through engineering, manufacturing, launch, and lifecycle management โ€” while shaping the future direction, customer experience, and product vision of both brands.

This role serves as the strategic and operational leader of the organizationโ€™s Product and Development function, with accountability for roadmap vision, new product innovation, supplier and manufacturing partnerships, cross-functional execution, and market differentiation across multiple product lines and customer segments. In addition to leading product strategy and development execution, this individual will directly manage and mentor the Product Managers supporting both Lectric eBikes and Juiced Bikes, ensuring alignment, prioritization, accountability, and strong cross-brand collaboration.

As the Director of Product Development, you will drive the evolution of existing products while identifying and developing the next generation of category-leading mobility solutions across both brands. This role will play a critical part in building scalable product processes, strengthening organizational structure, and creating a high-performing product culture capable of supporting rapid growth and innovation.

The ideal candidate combines strong consumer product instincts, deep hardware development expertise, global manufacturing experience, and exceptional leadership capability. This is a highly visible role with significant influence on the companyโ€™s growth, innovation strategy, and long-term market leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Vision, Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
  • Own and lead the company-wide product vision, innovation roadmap, and portfolio strategy across both Lectric eBikes and Juiced Bikes

  • Define long-term product direction aligned with business growth objectives, customer insights, and market opportunities for each brand

  • Ensure product strategies appropriately differentiate the positioning, rider experience, and innovation priorities of both brands while leveraging organizational synergies where appropriate

  • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and customer behaviors to inform future product development

  • Drive differentiation across product lineups through innovation, performance, design, and user experience

  • Establish product development priorities, success metrics, and portfolio investment strategies

  • Partner with Executive Leadership on long-range strategic planning and business growth initiatives

Product Development & Innovation Leadership
  • Lead end-to-end product development across all product categories from concept through mass production and lifecycle management

  • Oversee product requirements, specifications, feature prioritization, validation testing, and launch execution

  • Ensure development timelines, milestones, quality standards, and cost targets are achieved

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Product Managers supporting both Lectric eBikes and Juiced Bikes

  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, prioritization frameworks, and development processes across the Product organization

  • Foster strong collaboration between Product Managers, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams

Global Manufacturing & Supplier Leadership
  • Own strategic relationships with global manufacturing partners, ODMs/OEMs, suppliers, and development vendors

  • Serve as Lectricโ€™s senior product representative with overseas factories and manufacturing partners, particularly in China

  • Travel internationally as needed to support development reviews, production readiness, quality inspections, supplier negotiations, and relationship management

  • Partner closely with Sourcing, Operations, and Quality teams to optimize manufacturing capabilities, scalability, and cost efficiency

  • Drive supplier accountability, product quality improvements, and operational excellence throughout the supply chain

  • Ensure manufacturability and production scalability without compromising product intent or customer experience

Cross-Functional Executive Leadership
  • Lead and align cross-functional collaboration across Product, Engineering, Industrial Design, Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, CX, Finance, and Legal

  • Act as the central decision-maker on product scope, prioritization, development timelines, and launch readiness

  • Communicate product strategy, risks, opportunities, and progress clearly to executive leadership and key stakeholders

  • Build scalable product development processes, systems, organizational structure, and team capabilities to support continued growth across both brands

  • Develop and mentor high-performing Product and Development teams while creating leadership bench strength within the organization

Customer, Market & Competitive Intelligence
  • Champion the voice of the customer through market research, rider feedback, testing, data analysis, and customer insights

  • Monitor competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, industry trends, and emerging technologies

  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable product improvements and future innovation opportunities

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the e-bike, mobility, and consumer hardware industries

Financial & Business Accountability
  • Own product portfolio financial performance including margin targets, BOM cost goals, pricing strategy, and product profitability

  • Partner with Finance and Operations on forecasting, inventory planning, demand planning, and investment prioritization

  • Build and evaluate business cases for new products, technologies, and strategic initiatives

  • Balance customer experience, innovation, operational feasibility, and financial performance in decision-making

QualificationsRequired
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, Engineering Leadership, or New Product Development within e-bikes, mobility, consumer electronics, or hardware-driven industries

  • Proven experience leading physical consumer products from concept through mass production

  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing product and development teams

  • Deep experience working with overseas manufacturers and China-based suppliers

  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and organizational development capability

  • Ability to balance innovation, technical feasibility, operational execution, and financial discipline

  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and executive communication skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed

Preferred
  • Experience leading Product or Development organizations at a Director or Executive level

Travel Requirement:

This role requires periodic domestic and international travel, including visits to manufacturing partners, suppliers, industry events, and company locations. Travel may account for approximately 10-25% of the role, depending on business needs and product development cycles. A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally are required.

Physical Demands:

This role requires a combination of office-based work and hands-on product evaluation. The employee must be able to regularly sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods. The role may require handling, assembling, inspecting, and testing electric bicycles and related components. Employees should be able to safely lift and move products, parts, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.

The position may also require riding e-bikes for product testing, participating in field evaluations, visiting manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and suppliers, and traversing uneven terrain or outdoor environments during testing activities.

Compensation:
