POSITION SUMMARY

The Product & Market Development Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and helping commercialize new products, suppliers, and market opportunities that support strategic growth, while developing plans, tools, and sales support needed to successfully expand into new product categories and customer markets.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Researches and identifies new product lines, suppliers, and market opportunities to support strategic growth objectives and address evolving customer needs.

  1. Identifies and evaluates potential products, suppliers, and markets for commercial viability, margin potential, operational fit, competitive positioning, and long-term growth opportunity to maximize profitability and return on investment.
  2. Develops and executes product commercialization and market-entry plans to ensure successful product launches and sustainable revenue growth.
  3. Conducts market research, competitive analysis, and customer discovery efforts to identify trends, unmet needs, and emerging opportunities to drive business growth.
  4. Collaborates with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Quality, and Customer Care teams to ensure the successful implementation, adoption, and scalable growth of new products and initiatives.
  5. Assists in developing pricing strategies, value propositions, sales tools, and positioning strategies for new products and product categories to support market competitiveness and sales effectiveness.
  6. Provides product training, application guidance, customer support, and market education to improve sales effectiveness, customer adoption, and revenue generation for new offerings.
  7. Participates in customer visits, supplier meetings, trade shows, and industry events to gather market intelligence, strengthen strategic relationships, and identify growth opportunities.
  8. Monitors the performance of new products, markets, and initiatives through sales, margin, customer feedback, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities and support data-driven business decisions.
  9. Develops and executes a pipeline of future product, supplier, and market development opportunities to support long-term strategic growth and business expansion.
  10. Prepares business cases, reports, recommendations, and presentations to support executive decision-making related to growth initiatives and product development efforts.


Requirements:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or similar field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Experience: 5+ years of proven and progressive experience in product management, business development, market development, industrial sales, strategic sourcing, or related commercial roles within manufacturing, distribution, or industrial markets.

Certification(s): Certified Product Manager (CPM), Pragmatic Institute Product Management Certifications, or other Project Management, Product Development, or Marketing certifications preferred.

Functional Skills: Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to research, evaluate, develop, and execute new product, supplier, and market growth initiatives; excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess market opportunities, customer needs, competitive positioning, and profitability; strong organizational and project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; ability to learn technical products and applications, interpret specifications and industry requirements, and identify growth and process improvement opportunities; strong attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Technology Aptitude/Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 & Suites required; familiarity with ERP Solutions preferred.

Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Ability to confidently communicate with all levels of personnel, customers, and suppliers.
