About the Team

The ZF Off-Highway Solutions Minnesota Inc. team designs and manufactures hydraulic and electrohydraulic components, controls, and brake systems for off-highway machines. As a Product Design Engineer, you will support the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects related to hydraulic components and brake systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, project management, manufacturing, and customers to develop specifications, create designs, and ensure successful project completion from concept through production.

What you can look forward to as a Product Design Engineer:

  • Develop project concepts into detailed written engineering specifications
  • Design, research, and develop mechanical components and systems for assigned projects
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute design assignments including both minor and major projects
  • Collaborate with sales, customers, project teams, and manufacturing to ensure design alignment
  • Proceed independently on design work while participating in regular technical discussions
  • Provide technical direction and review work of designers and drafters
  • Communicate design changes and updates across departments

Your Profile as Product Design Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in product design, preferably in hydraulic components or brake systems
  • Strong background in hydraulics, mechanics, and analytical design techniques
  • Experience with drafting, materials, castings, and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of design tolerances and production techniques for hydraulic valves and actuators
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical and engineering principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly

The expected base compensation for this role is $72,164-110,000 annually.  Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position - this range includes Engineer I, Engineer II, and Engineer III levels.
