Job Summary:
St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician III for our Ft. Thomas Sterile Processing department located within the Ft. Thomas hospital.
Shift/Hours: Full Time 40 Hours, 2nd Shift
Leads the daily operations of Sterile Processing by ensuring efficient and effective cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and tray assembly of instruments and equipment according to established standards of practice. Provides input on how to perform tasks and how to achieve goals. Able to manage all aspects of multidisciplinary departments and effectively train staff in each area of responsibility. Monitor and provide input on associates' performance daily. Lead special projects and supports cost effective environment. Prepares departmental reports, monitor sterile processing process, and oversee recordkeeping system.

Operations
Provides input to management for performance appraisals and counseling /disciplinary actions as needed. Assists management with implementing and evaluating departmental goals consistent with organizational mission, vision, values. Collaborates with personnel of various departments to ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for procedures. Ensures efficient case cart system and sterile core cart processes. Schedules, supervises, and oversees the training of the technicians in each area. Apply knowledge and understanding of how to load, operate and test sterilizers to avoid contamination. Ability to incubate spores and properly interpret results, graphs and printouts; ensuring all sterilizers are functioning properly. Apply knowledge and understanding of how to load, operate and test both Medivator and Olympus Endoscope Reprocessor and do filter maintenance. Performs sterile processing functions as needed.
Quality/Customer Service
Develops and maintains collaborative interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships. Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, and other health care team members. Monitors sterilization processes and documentation to ensure adherence to appropriate infection control practices. Ensures timely follow-up, communication, and resolution to concerns of interdepartmental/intradepartmental staff, physicians, and other health care team members.
Financial Accountability
Assists in meeting department financial goals by adjusting staffing as needed. Demonstrates cost effective utilization of supplies and equipment.
Professionalism
Demonstrates leadership skills in directing sterile processing activities. Provides technical guidance on complex issues. Offers insight and organize responsibilities within the team. Ensures ongoing personal growth and development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
  • High School graduate
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT). If working in Endoscopy Department, (CBSPD) or (CER)

Specialized Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of perioperative instrumentation, sterilization, and AAMI (Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) standards. Knowledge of Joint Commission and AORN Standards
  • Computer entry skills
  • If working in Endoscopy Department, competent in SGNA Guidelines

Kind and Length of Experience:
  • Two years Sterile Processing experience as a Sterile Processing Tech
  • If working in Endoscopy Department, experience in Endoscopy Tech Role.
