Processing Assistant (Post-Harvest) — Medical Cannabis Facility
Location: Scarborough, ON
Shifts: Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, every other week (bi-weekly)
Pay: $18.50/hr
Start Date: Mid to end of June
We are recruiting Processing Assistants for a federally licensed medical cannabis production facility in Scarborough, Ontario. This is a casual, bi-weekly role supporting post-harvest operations including hand trimming, weighing, packaging, and sanitation — all within a highly regulated, PPE-required environment.

This is an excellent fit for candidates with backgrounds in food production, kitchen work, hairdressing, horticulture, manufacturing/assembly line, or trades — anyone who is comfortable with precision, repetitive tasks, and a structured regulated workplace.
Please note: this role involves direct contact with dried medical cannabis flower. Candidates must be comfortable working with plant material and fine particulate while wearing full PPE throughout their shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hand trim cannabis flower using scissors, separating flower from stems per SOPs
  • Weigh, portion, and package cannabis products accurately to specification
  • Record bag weights and other data metrics with care and precision
  • Follow all Good Production Practices (GPP), sanitation, and contamination control procedures
  • Identify and report any deviations, contamination risks, or product defects
  • Clean and sanitize drying racks, tools, and workstations
  • Maintain product integrity by handling all material gently and minimizing loss
  • Support inventory counts and secure storage of cannabis materials as required
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets and quality standards
PPE & Workplace Requirements
Full PPE is mandatory throughout the entire shift, including during breaks. This includes:
  • Full coverall suit
  • Medical face mask
  • Gloves
  • Hair net and beard net (if applicable)
Jewelry, nail polish, and makeup are not permitted. Candidates must be able to independently put on and remove full PPE for scheduled breaks.

Requirements
  • Ability to maintain focus and consistent quality while performing repetitive tasks for a full 8-hour shift
  • Experience in a precision or production-based role (kitchen, food prep, hairdressing, assembly, horticulture, or trades preferred)
  • Comfortable using trimming scissors or other precision hand tools
  • Experience with weighing scales or measurement tools is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols
  • Ability to accurately record data and document weights
  • Physically able to sit and perform repetitive hand tasks for the duration of a full shift
  • No conditions or allergies that would prevent wearing required PPE or working with cannabis plant material and fine particulate
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Clear criminal background required
  • 1+ year of experience in cannabis, food production, horticulture, manufacturing, or a related field is an asset
Additional Information
  • Casual employment — Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, every other week
  • All applicants must complete a pre-screening questionnaire as part of the application process
  • Only candidates whose questionnaire responses meet the role requirements will be considered for placement
