Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.
At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose - and with people who want to make a difference. We're not just developing advanced supermaterials - we're about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.
We're entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
Apply now to join our team and be part of something bigger than yourself - where collaboration, creativity, and purpose come together to build the technologies that will define the next century.
Lyten is seeking an intern to support reactor process development and production through a combination of data processing, modeling, and hands-on reactor operations support. The intern will work directly with the reactor process engineering team to improve experimental traceability, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and better connect modeling results with reactor test plans. This is a high-impact role for a student who wants exposure to thermal-chemical reactor systems, advanced materials processing, and real-world process development at production scale.
Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day reactor operations, including test setup, sample handling, and data collection.
  • Process and analyze experimental datasets using JMP and other statistical/data analysis tools.
  • Contributes to preliminary process and reactor models that link operating parameters to performance outcomes.
  • Develop and document structured datasets and standardized workflows to improve experimental traceability.
  • Collaborate with engineers to align modeling results with reactor test plans and DOE execution.
  • Deliver a capstone project focused on a defined reactor performance improvement area, with a final presentation to the team.

Deliverables
  • Structured, well-documented experimental datasets supporting process development.
  • Preliminary models tying operating conditions to reactor performance metrics.
  • Documented workflows that improve experimental traceability and reproducibility.
  • A capstone project aligned with reactor performance improvement, including a final written report and team presentation.

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in Material Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Coursework or hands-on experience with thermal-chemical reactors or similar high-temperature/reactive process systems.
  • Strong laboratory skills, including safe handling of equipment, samples, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using JMP (or equivalent statistical software).
  • Experience with SolidWorks for mechanical design and assembly review.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document workflows clearly.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment

Physical Requirements:
