Principal Process Manager - Network Product Well Managed

As a Principal Associate of Process Management within Transaction Processing, you will be responsible for ensuring all risk efforts are flawlessly executed. Our team bridges product, tech, and risk partners to ensure Transaction Processing products and platforms remain well-documented, efficient, and fully supported. You will serve as the primary subject matter experts and single point of contact for risk initiatives. You will blend analysis with process optimization to establish streamlined risk workflows and execute proactive data collection-ensuring on-time execution and continuous audit readiness.

General Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Partnership

    • Bridge the gap between technical, product, and risk teams, collaborating with and influencing diverse stakeholders to align on priorities and drive collective decision-making.

    • Act as a single point of contact to partnering with Product and Risk, ensuring successful execution of assessments, testing, audits, and regulatory requests.

    • Provide peer leadership and influence, serving as a mentor to junior team members and advocating for well-managed practices across broader initiatives.

  • Compliance & Risk Management

    • Provide oversight for essential controls and audits through proactive identification and monitoring of risks. Maintain robust protocols and drive remediation to ensure issues are resolved timely and regulatory standards are met.

    • Proactively anticipate and escalate potential risks or process gaps, driving the development of mitigation strategies to maintain a high-integrity control environment.

  • Process Excellence & Documentation

    • Design, optimize, and maintain rigorous process workflows and formal L2 documentation to ensure high standards and continuous audit readiness.

    • Establish and maintain team standard work to ensure a consistent, well-managed support model.

    • Support strategic prioritization and synthesize complex data into actionable insights to inform leadership pivots and program transparency.

    • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying operational inefficiencies and leading small-scale process enhancements that streamline work and reduce manual overhead.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 1 year of process management or risk experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management certification

  • At least 2 year of experience in Compliance or Risk Management

  • At least 2 years of experience in Process Management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $98,900 - $112,900 for Principal Process Manager



McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Principal Process Manager


Richmond, VA: $98,900 - $112,900 for Principal Process Manager


Riverwoods, IL: $98,900 - $112,900 for Principal Process Manager







Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
