Job description

Import Team Leader

The Import Team Leader is the primary contact person for the majority of all critical day-to-day operational issues. Provides high quality service to all customers, oversee the day-to-day Ocean Import operations for this department with the objective of timely, effective and profitable handling of all incoming international ocean freight. As the front line liaison with our customers, this position has to be in tune with customer and company expectations on all customer service and performance issues and ensure the delivery of a consistent good and high quality product.

Main Tasks:

  • Monitor and oversee the day-to-day operations and handling of import shipments.
  • Where necessary handle and process important or complex tasks that are critical to the success of the division
  • Answering and handling of rate disputes and critical inquiries for other divisions or overseas offices
  • Resolves all customer complaints and problems.
  • Ensure employees are provided quality assistance, and support locally and globally
  • Performs various miscellaneous customer requests.
  • Works with demurrage team for all demurrage issues.
  • Able to accurately establish priorities and adapt quickly to changing needs
  • Possess highly effective communication skills
  • Ensure employees adherence to company standards & policies
  • Interacts with customs team for any customs related issues
  • Other tasks as assigned by Import Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University;
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software.
