Job description


Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support daily semiconductor manufacturing operations by monitoring assigned process areas.
  • Investigate and resolve routine process-related production issues.
  • Release Work-In-Process (WIP) from hold after completing required verification and documentation.
  • Perform engineering experiments, process qualifications, and process characterization activities as directed by Process Engineers.
  • Collect, analyze, and document process and manufacturing data.
  • Escalate abnormal process conditions and assist with root cause investigations.
  • Support process optimization and continuous improvement projects to improve yield, quality, and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation, work instructions, and operating procedures.
  • Review and proofread process specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Train, certify, and provide technical guidance to production operators.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing procedures, quality standards, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Participate in yield improvement and defect reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate production records and engineering documentation.

Education & Experience
Required Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education
Associate Degree in Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.
Minimum Experience
4+ years of experience.
Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, wafer fabrication, advanced packaging, MEMS, compound semiconductor processing, or related high-volume manufacturing is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of wafer processing and/or back-end assembly operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Working Conditions
  • Work in a semiconductor manufacturing cleanroom environment.
  • Exposure to automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, specialty gases, and high-voltage equipment following established safety procedures.
  • Shift work, overtime, weekends, or on-call support may be required depending on production schedules.
  • Must comply with all cleanroom contamination control protocols.

Physical Requirements
  • Work in Class 100 to Class 10,000 cleanroom environments for extended periods.
  • Wear full cleanroom attire, including gown, gloves, mask, hood, and safety glasses.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Sit as required for data analysis and documentation.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Push and pull carts or equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Perform repetitive motions associated with manufacturing operations.
  • Work around chemicals, compressed gases, and automated manufacturing equipment.

Safety Requirements
All employees are required to comply with company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, cleanroom protocols, chemical safety requirements, and applicable local regulatory standards.
Employees are responsible for:
  • Following all established safety procedures.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participating in required EHS training.
    All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
