Position Description
GEON Performance Solutions has an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer in the Seabrook, TX, plant. This position reports to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support to our customers.
The Role
The Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing internal and external processes and conditions while providing education to internal and external customers on how to run GEON materials. The Process Engineer will troubleshoot issues raised by the customer and is accountable for and/or participates in the resolution of customer complaints. To operate at an advanced level the engineer will have several years' direct, relevant experience with the ability to operate with little to no direction.
Process Engineering Plant Responsibilities
  • A main point of contact for customer quality issues and recommendations on the next steps with effective coordination with the commercial team.
  • Education of customers on GEON products and their benefits in order to support revenue growth.
  • Train and qualify customers in effectively using GEON materials or products.
  • Continuous learning of product knowledge and polymer processing systems or equipment.
  • Develop technical specifications required for established GEON customers.
  • Documentation and preparation of product specifications incorporating GEON products and services into customer applications.
  • Develops, designs, and communicates manufacturing processes.
  • Previous twin screw extruder experience preferred.
  • Monitors and revises processes to help generate cost savings and improve the quality and efficiency of product/process.
  • Participates in design reviews to improve the ability to manufacture products.
  • Responsible for the activities related to the development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality, and performing process characterization and optimization studies using designed experiments, problem-solving and decision-making tools.
  • Identifies and solves issues or problems with equipment/process. Troubleshoots possible causes and coordinates the activities of maintenance, production and other available resources to implement cost effective solutions.
  • Provides coordination of new process installation and process changes.
  • Investigates, responds and implements corrective action related to customer complaint feedback.
  • Performs special testing of products
  • Previous IATF experience preferred.
  • Reviews and releases COA's.
  • Leads and/or participates in Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement efforts at the plants
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field of study, engineering or chemistry or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing industry or processing environment providing direct customer technical assistance. May be considered a Senior Process Engineer position with supporting years of experience.
  • Individuals in this position must have the ability to actively listen to customers and their opportunities, efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely and customer focused manner.
  • Must have the ability to ask probing questions to truly understand product and market opportunities and to convey these customer technical requirements back to the internal organization in order to develop an approach and to implement a project which will be successful.
  • Able to handle large quantities of work and multi-tasking with effective prioritization skills
  • Active team player who will effectively work across all functions within GEON
  • Computer skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills that will ensure the inclusion of GEON products into the design and function of identified customer products
  • Must be willing to adjust working hours for production needs (product trials, troubleshooting, etc.). Occasional off shift or weekend support may be required.
  • Occasional travel of up to 15% to visit customer sites
